WESTHAMPTON BEACH VILLAGE HALL

This first LEED gold certified project in Suffolk County was the winner of the New York Conference of Mayors (NYCOM) award as the best project of the year. Conceived and designed through the multiple charrette process involving a cross section of stakeholders from the community, the project achieved a total of 41 points. As it does with all of its LEED projects, Sandpebble conducts a complimentary facility walk through on a semi-annual basis to help ensure that its maintenance and operation remain on a sustainable track.

AMITYVILLE VILLAGE HALL

This building received a record five awards for being a model for high performance buildings in Suffolk County. Only the third LEED gold certified project in the County, it achieved a total of 42 points, putting it well into the gold range. The project was managed by Sandpebble's collaborative approach and the well attended charrettes resulted in a product that achieved the stakeholders' expectations with virtually no changes once the drawings had been completed. Sandpebble conducts a complimentary facility walk through on a semi-annual basis to help ensure that its maintenance and operation remain on a sustainable track.

The original library (supported by locust posts) had been added onto numerous times in its 100 year life. When it became apparent that the entire facility needed major upgrades and expansion, the Board of Trustees turned to Sandpebble to help it sort through its options and develop a solution. After examining five different alternatives (including moving from the existing undersized site), the stakeholders realized that the only option, that would enjoy the support of the community, was to replace the existing structure with a larger high performance building. Using the charrette process for goal setting and conceptual design, the totally transparent and collaborative effort resulted in the first LEED gold certified (5 points short of a platinum rating) library in New York State. As is customary for Sandpebble, we conduct a complimentary facility walk through on a semi-annual basis to help ensure that its maintenance and operation remain on a sustainable track.
